1492 Christopher Columbus established the first Spanish settlement in the New World.

1513-Ponce de Leon discovers Florida.

 

1542-Portuguese explorer Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo arrived at present-day San Diego.

1547 Ivan the Terrible was crowned the first czar of Russia.

 1564- Galileo Galilee was born.

1620- European Pilgrims landed at Plymouth, Massachusetts.

1799-    Napoleon captured Jaffa  in Palestine.

1803- The United States purchased the Louisiana territory from France for $27 million.

1804-Former US  Vice President Aaron Burr killed Secretary of the Treasury Alexander Hamilton in a duel.

1809-    Abraham Lincoln was born.

1810-Colombia declared independence from Spain.

1814 The War of 1812 between America and Britain ended with the signing of the Treaty of Ghent.

1819-   Spain ceded Florida to the United States.

1819-The first savings bank opened in the U.S. in New York City, The Bank for Savings.

1819 Alabama became the 22nd state in the United States.

1822 Brazil has gained Independence.



1836-The fourth president of the United States, James Madison, died.

 

 

1837-Queen Victoria became the first monarch to live in Buckingham Palace.

 

 

1842- Adhesive postage stamps were used for the first time (New York City).

1844-Samuel Morse transmitted the first telegraph message.

1847 Yerba Buena, CA was renamed San Francisco.

The Republican party was founded in USA.

1857-The US Supreme Court ruled in Dred Scott v. Sanford that slaves were not citizens.

1859-"Happy Birthday to You" was written by Mildred J. Mill in Louisville, Kentucky.


1859-Edwin Drake drilled the first successful U.S. oil well near Titusville, Pa. in USA.

1865 Slavery was abolished in the USA , with the ratification of the 13th Amendment.

1868 The world's first traffic lights, built off London's Parliament Square, began operation.

1870-The 15th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution went into effect, guaranteeing the right to vote regardless of race.


1876-Thomas Edison patented the mimeograph machine.

 

1877 The phonograph "talking machine" was invented, by Thomas Edison.

 

1877 First sound recording, "Mary had a Little Lamb," was made by Thomas Edison.

 

1879-Albert Einstein was born.

1881-President James Garfield died of wounds inflicted by an assassin.

1881-Chester A. Arthur was sworn in as the 21st president of the United States, succeeding James A. Garfield.

1882 - Franklin Delano Roosevelt was born

1885-Louis Pasteur successfully treated a patient with a rabies vaccine.


1888-George Eastman received a patent for his roll-film camera and registered his trademark: Kodak.

1890-US Congress passed the Sherman Antitrust Act.

1894-Labor Day became a federal holiday by an act of Congress

1894-Coca-Cola was sold in bottles for the first time.

1894 Nikita Khrushchev ( President of former USSR) was born and he died in 1971)

1895- Sheikh " Abdullah Salem AL Sabah" was born , later he became the most important ruler of Kuwait , as  Kuwait became a modern country during his time.

1896 Utah was admitted as 45th state in the US.

1896 The X-ray demonstrated for the first time in U.S.

1899 - Al Capone's birthday.

1900   

  • Hawaii became a U.S. Territory.
  • The 1st overseas calls was made in Dec 25 , 1900 to find out if voice communication can travel that far using telegraph lines. The call was made between Havana & Key -West in USA.

 

1901-New York became the first state to require license plates on cars.

                  

 

                       

1901-Anna Edson Taylor became the first person to survive going over Niagara Falls in a barrel.

1901 J.P. Morgan formed the first billion-dollar corporation in the world.

1902- 1st Movie Theatre opened in L.A.

1903 Orville and Wilbur Wright made the first flight at Kitty Hawk, N.C.

            1913 The "Mona Lisa" was recovered in Florence after having been stolen two years earlier.

 

 

1906-The first Grand Prix motor race was held in Le Mans, France.

1906-San Francisco Great Earthquake  killed over 500.

1907-Taxis first began running in New York City.

1907 Oklahoma became the 46th state.

1908 The first Boy Scout troop was organized.

 

 

1908-The Office of the Chief Examiner, which became the FBI in 1935, was created.

1909-The first Lincoln penny was issued.

1909- Charles Darwin was born.

1911 -    President Ronald Reagan was born.


1911-The Titanic was launched in Belfast.

1911-The Mona Lisa was stolen from the Louvre museum in France by an Italian waiter.

 

1912-The U.S. Government adopted the 8-hour workday.  

1912 Titanic sank off the coast of Newfoundland.

1914-Mother's Day became a national holiday.

1915- 25,000 women marched in NY City, for the right to vote.

 

1915 In April 24: 86 years ago today, Turkey began it's campaign to massacre 1.5 million Armenian men, women and children, 80% of the Armenian population in Turkey.



Every year, the Turkish Government spends millions of dollars in the USA attempting to rewrite the history of those years.


1915 Congress passed legislation creating the U.S. Coast Guard.

1915-The civilian ship Lusitania was sunk by a German submarine off Ireland. 1,198 people were killed.

1917-
John F. Kennedy was born in Brookline, Mass

1917-The U.S. declared War on Austria-Hungary and entered World War 1.

1917:  Balfour Declaration - The "letter" from Lord Balfour to Lord Rothschild, declaring that the British government "view with favor" the establishment of a Jewish National Home in Palestine. This was to be the basis of the League of Nations Mandate for Palestine, granted to Great Britain. 

1917 Mexico adopted its present constitution.

1917-Jeannette Rankin, first woman ever elected to US Congress, took her seat in office.

1919-The Treaty of Versailles was signed in France, ending World War I.

1919: League of Nations Covenant Mandate Provision - The enabling provision that was the basis of the Mandate for Palestine given to Great Britain in 1922.

1919 Grand Canyon National Park was established.

 

 

1920         Britain promise to give Palestine for the European Jews to establish a Zionist state. This is in recognition of the financial support that European Jews had given to Britain during the wars. Jews by the thousands were smuggled , from Europe, by the British occupying forces to Palestine.

1921-1961 Last Kings of Iran

After WWI , a military officer "Reza Khan", took power& outset the king and became Shah Reza Khan in 1926 and he began to reform Iran & re-build the nation. His son Mohammad Reza succeeded him in 1961

1922   

  • The British Mandate for Palestine - The League of Nations Mandate giving Great Britain control of Palestine for the purpose of making a Jewish National Home there.
  • The Churchill ("Command") White Paper - Document that created, in effect, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, while guaranteeing Jewish rights in Palestine west of the Jordan river.
  •   President Harding had a radio installed in The White House.
  • Dedication of The Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C.

1923 ( Sept 1st):

  • The worst earthquake (in history) hit Japan , the result is 300,000 dead and 1 million were made homeless.
  • TIME magazine appeared on newsstands for the first time.
  • Adolf Hitler attempted to seize control of the German government in the Beer Hall Putsch.

1923 A US-presidential address was broadcast on the radio for the first time.

1924 ( Jan 21):      Vladimir Linen died at the age of 43 , he was the 1st head of State of the formal USSR. Joseph Stalin succeeded him.

1924-Four planes leave Seattle ( USA) on the first successful flight around the world.

1924 The first Winter Olympic games opened at Chamonix, France.

1924 The gas chamber was used for the first time as a method of execution.

1925 The first revolution in Syria began.

1926- Magician Harry Houdini died in Detroit of complications resulting from a ruptured appendix.

1927-Charles Lindbergh became the first person to fly across the Atlantic .

1927 Joseph Stalin became the ruler of the Soviet Union.

 

1929-The stock market crashed on what came to be known as "Black Tuesday," starting the Great Depression.

1930-The first World Cup soccer competition began in Montevideo, Uruguay.


1931-Inventor Thomas Alva Edison died in West Orange, N.J., at age 84.

1931-Japan invaded Manchuria in 1931, and occupied various parts of China until 1945.

1931-The Empire State Building opened.

1932-Amelia Earhart became the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean .

 

                    1932-The 10th modern Olympic Games opened in Los Angeles.

1933-Albert Einstein arrived in the United States as a refugee from Nazi Germany.

1935-The Social Security Act became law.

1935 Airplanes no longer permitted to fly over White House.

1936   The Arab revolt in Palestine against the British occupying Forces.

1936 King Edward VIII abdicated the throne of Britain for Mrs. Wallis Simpson.

1936-The Spanish Civil War began.

1937: Maps of the Peel Commission Partition Plans - The Peel Commission recommended Partition of Palestine into a tiny Jewish area and a much larger Palestinian area.

1937 The first permanent license plates were issued.

1937's "Nanjing massacre." When that Chinese city fell to the Japanese Imperial Army, tens of thousands of civilians and prisoners of war were killed.

1938  Oil was discovered in Saudi Arabia.

1938-Radio broadcast of The War of the Worlds, starring Orson Welles, caused nationwide panic among listeners.

1939-Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union signed a non-aggression treaty.

1939-Warsaw, Poland, surrendered to the Nazis after weeks of resistance.

1940-Bugs Bunny made his debut in the cartoon A Wild Hare.


1940 Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz were married.

 

1940-The 40-hour work week went into effect under the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938.

1940-Winston Churchill was the first to use the two finger V-is-for-Victory sign.

1941 The Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, declaring war on US.

1942 - Muhammad Ali's birthday.

1942- The Battle of El Alamein,El Alamein marked a turning point in the fortunes of the Allies, who were fighting to keep open vital supply lines from the Mediterranean to the East in WWII.

1942 Minimum draft age in USA , was  lowered from 21 to 18.

 

1943 Churchill, Roosevelt, and Stalin met in Tehran for their first meeting during World War II.

 

1943 The Pentagon, was completed.

1944    Mussolini (of Italy ) was arrested & executed by the order of the King of Italy.

1944 Franklin D. Roosevelt won a 4th term in office.

1945 President Franklin Roosevelt died. (1945)

1945-President Harry Truman announced that the secret of the atomic bomb would only be shared with Great Britain and Canada.


1945 The war crimes trials of 24 German World War II leaders began in Nuremberg, Germany.

1945-The first atomic bomb was tested in Alamogordo, New Mexico.

1945-  The first atomic bomb used in warfare was dropped on Hiroshima, Japan.

1945 The Senate approved U.S. participation in the United Nations.

1945-The United Nations Conference opened for the first time.

1945 Congress officially recognized the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

1945   American troops entered Nuremberg, Germany.  

1945-U.S. troops began landing in Japan after Japan's surrender in World War II. 

1945-The Soviet Union announced the fall of Berlin.

1946-The bikini swimsuit made it's debut at a Paris fashion show.

1946 , Syria became independent on April 16 of this year.

1947    

1947-President Harry S. Truman signed the Presidential Succession Act.

1947-President Harry S. Truman signed the National Security Act, creating the DOD, the NSC, the CIA and the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

1948

  • Israel declare their state and kicked out British forces from Palestine. The Israeli made horrific genocide & killing of peaceful citizens of Palestine which caused a huge refuge move to neighboring countries.
  • All the beaches of Palestine were occupied by Israeli forces and were blocked by them so that Palestinian will not receive any help or support.
  • The Arab Israeli war started and ended with the defeat of all Arabs. The Israeli Army were about 100,000 while the fighting Arab army was only 15,000.
  • Heavy & brutal invasion of Israeli forces to peaceful villages in Palestine. Many atrocities were committed by these forces as whole villages were completely whipped out and there population were brutally massacred including men, women & children. In der Yassin near AL Qods city (Jerusalem) 254 innocent villagers ( men , women & children) were killed. Over 400 villages were destroyed.
  • Flood of Palestinian refugee go to Lebanon , Syria , Jordan and Egypt. Some Palestinians go to other Arab countries that welcomed and helped them , such as Saudia Arabia & Kuwait. About 760,000 refuges went to Lebanon , Syria & Jordan. The total number of refugees after the Arab Israeli war exceeded 1 million , which is the biggest after WWII and the whole world kept quite.

1948      In May 11 , the British forces leave Palestine & the Israeli forces raise there  flags and declare the State of Israel over all the Palestinian land. Russia UK & USA accept the new state and the Israeli action.

  • 1948: UN General Assembly Resolution 194 - This resolution calls for repatriation or compensation for Arab Palestinian refugees created by the Israeli War of Independence (the 1948 War).
  • UN Representative was killed by fanatic Jews as  Israel refuse the presence or the involvement of United Nation to settle the conflicts. The Israeli want to settle the conflict by guns and killing or kicking out all the Palestine's.

1950 During the Korean War, the first battle between jets took place.

1950- Sheikh " Abdullah Salem AL Sabah" became the ruler of Kuwait. During his time the constitution of Kuwait and the first parliament was formed. also during his rule Kuwait has prospered and became the most modern and advanced country in the Middle East. 

1950-President Harry S. Truman ordered the Air Force and Navy into the Korean War.

1951-"I Love Lucy" premiered on television.

1951 The 22nd Amendment, limiting the President to two terms was ratified.

1951 Truman fired General MacArthur from Korea. 

1952      The revolution against the King of Egypt  & the establishment of United Arab Republic by Mohammad Najeeb & Jamal Abdul Nasser. Jamal becomes the first Arab leader to turn his country against Imperialism.

1952-Puerto Rico became a commonwealth.

1953-Gen. George C. Marshall won the Nobel Peace prize.

 

1954 USS Nautilus, the first nuclear-powered submarine was launched.

1954-West Germany joined NATO.

1955 Albert Einstein died at age 76.

1955-Disneyland opened in Anaheim, California.

1956-The phrase "In God We Trust" was adopted as the national motto for the USA monetary.

1956 - Rear Admiral G. J. Dufek became the first person to land an airplane at the South Pole.

1956      Israel , France & Britain attacks Egypt in order to take over the Swiss Canal. The United States ordered them to stop the war and they did.

1956 Britain inform Israel that it will protect Jordan against any military attack.

1957-The United States conducted its first underground nuclear test in the Nevada desert.

1957-The Soviet Union launched the first artificial satellite, Sputnik, into orbit around the earth.

1958 General Abdul Kareem Qasem, the leader of free Officers, take power of Iraq after coup against the Monarchy.

1958-The nuclear powered submarine Nautilus became the first US vessel to cross the North Pole under water.

1958-   Khrushchev became Soviet premier and first secretary of the Communist Party.

1959 The USSR launched the first spacecraft to orbit the Sun, Mechta (Luna 1).

1960-Richard M. Nixon and John F. Kennedy took part in the first televised presidential debate.

1960 USSR president Nikita Khorutchof took off his shoes and hit the desk hardly in a UN meeting , causing all UN members to be shocked of his behavior.

1961- Bay of Pigs invasion in Cuba.

1961 The Marshall Plan expired after distributing more than $12 billion in foreign aid.

1961-The border between East and West Berlin was closed and separated by a barbed wire fence.

1961-South Africa became an independent republic.

1961 -1st Manned Orbit in space. 

1961 - Thousands of Jews were brought from Morocco to Palestine.

1961-Kuwait got it's independence and became a country & recognized by the United Nation. 

1962 -
The 8th and 9th planets aligned for the first time in 400 years.  

1962-The Beatles released their first hit, "Love Me Do," in Britain.

1962 John Glenn orbited Earth.

1962-The Savannah, the world's first nuclear-powered ship, completed her maiden voyage from VA to GA.

1962-Jamaica gained its independence from Britain.

1962-President Kennedy announced an air and naval blockade of Cuba.

1963       John F. Kennedy ,President of USA , was shot in the third year of his presidency in Texas. Who was behind this assassination is still a mystery!!

1963-Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. gave his famous "I Have a Dream" speech at the Lincoln Memorial.

 

1963 The first discotheque, the Whiskey-A-Go-Go, opened in Los Angeles.

 

1963-A hot line between the Kremlin and the White House went into operation to reduce the chances of an accidental war.

1964-China detonated its first atomic bomb.

1964 The U.S. spacecraft Mariner 4 completed its first successful mission to Mars.

1964-The American space probe Ranger 7 transmitted pictures of the moon’s surface.

1964-President Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act into law.

1964 Muhammad Ali became world heavyweight boxing champion for the first time.

 

1965 During the worst power failure in history, the Northeast and parts of Canada went dark for over 13 hours.

1967    

  • Israel start a war ( 6 days war) & invade The West bank , Ghaza and Golan height of Syria and declares that these lands are part of Israel.
  • 1967: UN Security Council Resolution 242 - Resolution adopted following the  6-Day War. The UN requested the withdrawal of Israeli armed forces from territories occupied in that conflict.

1967 DNA was created in a test tube for the first time.

1967 Dr. Christian N. Barnard performed the world's first successful human heart transplant.

1968     

  • Palestinian National Charter - Document adopted by the Palestine Liberation Organization in 1968, as the basis for their struggle against Israel and Zionism. In 1993, as part of the Oslo agreement, the Palestinians promised to cancel key provisions of the charter that denied the right of Israel to exist. The PLO executive met on two different occasions (the second one in the presence of President Clinton) to alter the charter. 
  • Robert Kennedy ; brother of John F Kennedy ;was shot in 1968 while campaigning as a Democratic presidential candidate.
  • 1968-Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated.

1969-Astronaut Neil A. Armstrong was the first man to walk on the Moon.

1969-Hurricane Camille devastated the Gulf Coast, killing 248 people.

1969-Woodstock Music and Art Fair opened at a Dairy Farm in Bethel, New York.

1969 -1st artificial human heart implanted.

1970     Jamal Abdul Nasser ( President of Egypt) passed away leaving Egypt & the Arab world without a real leader. 

1970-Apollo 13 safely return to Earth.

1970 A cyclone and tidal wave hit East Pakistan, killing over 200,000 people.

1970 Pope Paul VI was attacked at the Manila airport by a Bolivian painter disguised as a priest.

1970-27-year-old rock star, Jimmy Hendrix, died in London

1971-The U.N. General Assembly voted to admit mainland China and expel Taiwan.

1971-Independance of United Arab Emirates.

In 1971-al-Assad became president of Syria.

1971 Women in Switzerland were finally granted suffrage.

1971 People's Republic of China was seated at the UN Security Council.

1972-Richard Nixon arrived in Moscow, first U.S. president to visit the Soviet Union.

1972 China sent President Nixon two giant pandas as a gift.

1972 Harry S. Truman, died in Kansas City, Mo.

 

1973 - U.S. Senate selected a committee to investigate the Watergate scandal.

1973-Vietnam peace treaty was signed in Paris

1973     King Faisal of Saudia Arabia , declares the Oil embargo against the west , if they continue to support the Israeli atrocities against the Arabs.

1974     King Faisal of Saudia Arabia , was assassinated by a member of Saudi Royal family. There were rumors that the CIA and MOSAD ( Israeli secret Service) are behind it.

1974-The Supreme Court ruled unanimously that President Nixon had to turn over the Watergate tapes.

1974-Nixon became the first U.S. President to resign from office.

1975-North Vietnamese and Vietcong forces captured Saigon.

1975-Arthur Ashe became the first black man to win a Wimbledon singles title.

1976-Romanian gymnast Nadia Comaneci earned the first perfect score, a 10, at the Olympics.

1976-1977   Iran faces economical problems due to massive industrial & military buildup, corruption and inflation fueled discontent.

1977     Anwar Saddat is the 1st Arab president to visit Israel ( publicly). He paid his life as he was assassinated later.

1978    Iran revolution start against the Shah.

1979   

  • The Shah of Iran flees as Khomeini & his mullah group take power.
  • The Soviet Union took control of Afghanistan.
  • Margaret Thatcher elected Prime Minister of Britain.
  • Israel-Egyptian Peace Agreement Signed.
  • Mother Theresa was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
  • Two Iraqi Nuclear reactors were damaged by sabotage from MOSAD (Israeli Secret Agent).

1980-Cable News Network ( CNN) made its debut.  

  1980-Mount St. Helens erupted after being dormant for 123 years.

2000

  • "Hafez Al-Assad" ( president of Syria) had passed away. His son Bashar take over. This set a ruling family for Syria which is supposed to be a republic with presidential election. By the death of "Hafez Al-Assad" , the last obstacle against Israel domination of the Middle East was removed. Will Bashar honor his father policy of no peace with Israel.
  • Violence erupt in Palestine as Israeli soldiers shoot & kill many Palestinians demonstrators , mostly children.
  • Qatar & Oman closes Israeli trade office and Consulate. A Move in support to the Palestinian who are murdered daily by Israeli forces.
  • USS  , COLE, destroyer ship was bombed in Yemen by a suicide bomber, over 17 US navy persons were killed and 39 injured.
  • 2000-Israeli troops pulled out of Lebanon after 22 years of occupation.
