DSF  2003 ( January 15 to Feb.15,  2003)

Dubai shopping festival 2004 , has been launched on Jan. 15 and will continue for one month.

We advise our readers to avoid the traffic area. This year Dubai Shopping Festival , should be called "Dubai Traffic Jam Festival", or "Dubai Agony and frustration Festival".

Actually , there is not much to expect from a DSF 2004 , just like previous years , it is all about eating and seeing some low level entertainment.

Even the DSF web site: www.mydsf.com is not ready and fully functioning, with so much missing links and empty information. This is not a way to do a large scale even. The government of Dubai need some professional help.

The Global Village is one crowded area. The area is not very well planned, since access to this place is through one road only. There are very few public toilets in this area and they are filthy and dirty , you should avoid risking your health. The parking area is not prepared  , there are un safe obstacles in the parking area. Also the ground is not properly leveled for pedestrian. The ground is not also prepared inside the global village. finally what is displayed by each country is gimmicks, very cheap products at a high price. The only attractive thing in the global village is the small entertainment , which is not worth the hassle of going there. saying all of that , just look at the people going there , as if they have seen nothing and that is true. 

We think that Dubai Shopping Festival is a Festival for eating and entertainment ..not for shopping..

You can get the same pricing after the festival...so hold on to your money , and do not waste your time in traffic jams.

Dubai Roads are not designed to handle heavy traffics , such as during the shopping festival. Also the police do not know how to handle traffic jams effectively.

We advise all visitors for the global Village ( Festival City) , to note the following:

1-Avoid traffic jam by not going to the Global village , next to Qarhood Bridge.. There is nothing much to see...you will suffer from the crowd and it will take you many hours to drive in and out of the parking.. It is real agony..

2-Be careful when you visit some stands, sometime you might be fooled and soled bad product.

3-The Location of global village is very bad , since there is only 1 entrance , which is also the same exit for the car park. You can get stuck for many hours in the traffic jam..

3-Do not go out in the crowded streets ( Regga , Muragabat) and avoid Global Village altogether.

4-Also you need to avoid all shopping Malls in Thursday evening.
