AL-Ain Zoo in United Arab Emirates ,has successfully bred in captivity sand cats - an endangered smallest member of the Arabian cats' family. The sand cat  is the smallest member of the cat family in Arabia standing 26 cm at the shoulder and weighing up to 3kg," said a zoo spokesperson. They inhabit stony and sandy desert regions where temperatures range between -5 to 58 degrees C.

•  Urban expansion and loss of open space have put some 25 percent of bird species in the United States in trouble — more than double the number at risk five years ago — according to a new study. Of more than 800 bird species in America, 201 are on the watch list, and 21 of those are in the endangered category.
