In this page we will present different letters from
our viewers in the United States of America , just to show opinions from different
people:
Dear Editor,
I am shocked at the behavior of Cotton Incorporated and the American National
Cotton Council. Cotton interests around the world are working closely
together, with the result that hardworking farmers earn less and questionable
food products end up on tables.
Each year, millions of bales of cotton are sold to China at artificially low
prices. That military monster is provided a cheap raw material to use in
its textile factories. Production includes everything from gun cotton to
uniforms and of course, exports. Tibet has been invaded while the world
remains silent.
Farmers interested in saving money feed animals cottonseed. Cottonseed
contains gossypol. Pigs that eat cottonseed die. Chickens produce
mutated eggs. Bulls go sterile, calves die. This information is not
readily provided by marketers of cottonseed. This material finds its way
to the places where it does the most harm.
Roasted cottonseed increases milk production, but it changes the milk and the
butter becomes like plastic. It is being used because it is cheap.
Farmers in the United States produce more food than is used. Two years
ago, enough food to feed everyone in the world was destroyed because there were
no railroad cars to move it. Countries continue to send cash crops to the
United States while they consume marginal food. Here are the words of an
American President - Teddy Roosevelt,
'Do what you can with what you have, where you are.'
Look out for number one. It is more important to have good food than a
cell phone.
Sincerely,
Alfred L. Brock
